On Addison's behalf, Shefford infiltrated a resistance group of momentum survivors around the charismatic telekineticist Adrian Geiger, who gave him the choice of choosing for or against the community of telekinetics. Shefford falls in love with Adrian's daughter Tristen, but hesitates to join the resistance , as the resistance, despite their noble goals, misuse their powers for criminal and terrorist attacks.

In the former Momentum research center, Addison and Geiger end up fatally. With the support of FBI agent Jordan Ripps, Zachary decides to stay out of the power struggle between the telekinetics and the government. However, he is the last survivor of Geiger's destroyed troop and will have to lead an existence on the run from the secret service in the future .
