Monika Leisch-Kiesl
Monika Leisch-Kiesl (* 1960 in Linz ) is an Austrian art historian .
Life
After graduating from high school in Linz in 1978, he studied specialist theology and independent religious education at the Catholic-Theological College, Linz ( Mag. Theol. ) From 1978 to 1983 and from 1978 to 1980 in the additional course of textile design at the College for Artistic and Industrial Design . From 1984 to 1996 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Art (board member: Günter Rombold ), theological faculty, Linz. After completing her doctorate in 1990 at the University of Salzburg ( Dr. theol. ), From 1991 to 1996 she taught gender studies in theology and art history in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. From 1986 to 1994 she studied art history and philosophy at the universities of Salzburg , Vienna and Munich . In 1992 she held a lectureship in art history at the University of Applied Arts Vienna . In 1995 she was visiting professor for art studies - focus on the 20th century at the theological faculty of the University of Eichstätt . After completing his doctorate in art history in 1996 at the University of Basel (Dr. phil.), He has been teaching since 1996 as professor for art history and aesthetics and head of the Institute for Art / then: for art history at the KU Linz . In 2017 she was awarded the Gold Medal of Merit of the State of Upper Austria .
Her main research interests are (medieval) book illumination taking into account the relationship between text and image, artistic positions of modernity and the present, starting points for a discourse between art (20th / 21st century) and philosophical or theological positions, art theory and aesthetics , Drawing, gender studies and art in inter- and transcultural contexts.
