Moppa Elliott

Moppa Elliott (born September 13, 1978 in Scranton (Pennsylvania) as Matthew Thomas Elliott ) is an American double bass player and composer of the Modern Creative .
Life
Elliott first learned the piano and then switched to the trombone before switching to bass at the age of 17 and taking lessons from Tony Marino. From 1997 to 2002 he studied biology at Oberlin College and jazz bass at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. It was there that his first CD, Pinpoint , was created. a. with Charles Evans . After working at the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts in Erie, Pennsylvania , he moved to New York City with fellow student Peter Evans .
Since 2003 he has been writing the compositions for the quartet Mostly Other People Do the Killing , which he founded and with whom he has successfully toured internationally. In the group Puttin on the Ritz he also sings on their album White Light / White Heat (2010). He also played with Jon Lundblom ( Big Five Chord ), Bryan Murray, Russ Kaplan, John White and Wildlife Control . He also worked on Jon Irabagon's Outright! With.
