Charles Evans (* around 1975) is an American jazz musician ( baritone saxophone , composition ).

Charles Evans first learned alto saxophone at the age of five and decided at 17 to concentrate on the baritone saxophone. After graduating from the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts in 1996, he studied jazz performance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. During this time he took lessons from Bill Zaccagni, Chris Farr, John Swana , Julian Sparacino, Jim Buckley and Dave Liebman . After earning his bachelor's degree, he first worked in the Philadelphia jazz scene; The first recordings were made in 2001 when he was involved in Moppa Elliott's debut album Pinpoint . He also formed a Coltrane Tribute Trio, with whom he performed in the Philadelphia area. In 2002 he moved to New York on the advice of Dave Liebman; There he completed his master's degree in music education at Queens College (graduated in 2004) with Antonio Hart and Michael Mossman . In New York he also had lessons with Ronnie Cuber , Gary Smulyan and George Garzone ; he also played with Dave Liebman, Ravi Coltrane , Peter Evans , John Swana, Chris Farr , Tony Miceli , Tim Armacost , Billy Hart , Gene Jackson , Antonio Hart, Michael Mossman, James Zollar , Duane Eubanks and Phil Markowitz .

In the borough of Queens Evans founded the formation The Language of , whose music comprised microtonal elements and free jazz compositions. In addition, he formed a duo with the guitarist Erik Dutko , another with the pianist Neil Shah . He also worked in the New York area in the Brooklyn Big Band , with Christian Pincock in the electro-acoustic duo The Derividactory and with various performance artists. Starting in 2005, he presented a number of albums under his own name, in a quartet line-up and a solo album called The King of all Instruments that was created with overdubbing . In the field of jazz he was involved in 13 recording sessions between 2005 and 2014.
