Morgan Hill is a city in Santa Clara County in the US state California , with 37,882 inhabitants (as of 2010 ). The geographical coordinates are: 37.13 ° north, 121.64 ° west. The urban area has a size of 30.2 km².

Founded on November 10, 1906, the city was named after Hiram Morgan Hill, a San Francisco resident who built a country estate there in 1884. From a cattle and fruit growing community, the place has developed into a satellite city for the high-tech industries in Silicon Valley . The outline of El Toro, a peculiar hill that overshadows the city to the west, is recognizable in the city's seal and corporate logo.
