Life

Moritz Bauschke was born as the son of Anton Bauschke (* 1772; † July 6, 1824 in Breslau), royal hydraulic engineering inspector.

He attended the Catholic Matthias Gymnasium in Breslau and then in 1828 went to the royal building academy in Berlin ; There he passed his exam in 1830 and was then sworn in as a conductor , but at that time he was already more concerned with literary work than with official measurements and was at that time an employee of the magazines Eremit , Komet , Abendzeitung , Planet , Figaro , and Breslauer Zeitung , Zeitschwingen ( Frankfurt am Main ), Don Quixote (Berlin) and Hebe (Leipzig).

In 1832 he left Berlin and a long journey took him through Germany, after which he returned to Breslau. There he founded the magazine Breslauer Bote. In 1833 he founded the publishing company and he also took over the journal Freikugeln and ran it as its editor; the paper was particularly widespread in the last years before March in Breslau and Silesia . After the February Revolution of 1848 , however, the paper lost its importance and in 1852 it was discontinued.

He moved to Leipzig , where he founded a bookstore and acquired the literary museum, which Anton Philipp Reclam had sold in 1837, from the new owners; after his death, his widow continued to run the museum until his son took over the museum on August 28, 1864. This was a lending institute for magazines and a reading cabinet, connected to a German, French and English lending library .

Moritz Bauschke was with Josephine Rosina, geb. Raphael, married. they had a son together:
