Morten Solvik
Morten Solvik (or Solvik Olsen ) (* 1962 in Norway ) is a Norwegian- American musicologist working in Austria and Director of the Institute for European Studies (IES) in Vienna .
Life
Solvik earned a Bachelor of Arts in music and intellectual history from Cornell University and his PhD in musicology from the University of Pennsylvania . His doctorate took place with a thesis on Gustav Mahler , but he also did research on Anton Bruckner and Franz Schubert , among others .
Solvik has lived in Vienna since 1990 and taught there at the University of Music and Performing Arts . Since 1999 he has been in charge of developing the direction and organization of the Institute for European Studies in Vienna.
Solvik is on the board of the International Gustav Mahler Society and on the editorial board of the Anton Bruckner Urtext Complete Edition .
