Walburga Litschauer

Walburga Litschauer (born October 15, 1954 in Klagenfurt , Carinthia ) is an Austrian musicologist and Schubert researcher.

Life

Litschauer studied music and theater studies at the University of Vienna and completed piano training at the Vienna Conservatory . In 1979 she passed the state examination in piano, followed by her doctorate in 1980 and her habilitation in 2005 at the University of Vienna. In 2015 she was awarded the professional title of Professor.

Litschauer initially worked on the Anton Bruckner complete edition. Since 1980 she has headed the Vienna office of the New Schubert Edition at the Austrian Academy of Sciences , and since 1990 she has been a member of the editorial team. From 1990 to 1995 she was the editor of Musicologica austriaca .

Litschauer is a board member in domestic and foreign scientific societies, from 1998 to 2012 she was president of the Austrian Society for Music , from 2004 she was deputy chairwoman of the Festival Carinthischer Sommer , from 2010 to 2016 its chairwoman.
