Moshe Bar'am ( Hebrew משה ברעם; * March 17, 1911 in Sdolbuniv ; † December 5, 1986 ) was an Israeli politician who, as a member of the HaMa'arach, was Minister of Welfare and Social Services (January 16, 1977 to June 20, 1977) and Minister of Labor (June 3, 1974 to June 20, 1977). He is the father of Uzi Bar'am .

Life

Moshe Bar'am attended school in Kovno . In his youth he was a member of the Hechalutz movement and von Dror , the youth movement of the Zionist workers' party Poale Zion . In 1931 he immigrated to Palestine as part of the Aliyah . There he was a member of the Hagana . In 1959 he became a Knesset member of the Mapai . In 1965 Mapai became part of HaMa'arach , with Bar'am remaining a member of the Knesset until 1977. On June 3, 1974, he was appointed Minister of Labor. Shortly before the 1977 elections, he also took over the office of Minister for Welfare and Social Services. His term of office lasted until June 20, 1977, because he lost his seat in the 1977 elections.
