The Mosenberg is a 437.5 m high mountain, particularly well known among glider pilots and hikers, about 3 km northeast of Homberg / Efze in the north Hessian Schwalm-Eder district .

The mountain naturally belongs to the flat, undulating and heavily agriculturally used Homberg highlands (natural area 356.3), part of the Knüll highlands (natural area 356). Its main summit, the so-called Große Mosenberg, is mostly forested on its north, east and south sides, and its summit and the west and south flanks, together with an area southwest of the Sauerburg, are a designated nature conservation and FFH area of 64 hectares Size (CDDA code 164698). The Great Mosenberg is surrounded by the Klingelbach in the east and south .
To the south, the L 3224 runs from Homberg to Melsungen , to the north, the L 3149 from Hebel to Hombergshausen , and to the west, the federal road 254 from Homberg to Wabern .
Mosenberg airfield
First to the north and then to the east, a plateau that slopes sharply on both sides extends to the 405 m high secondary summit of the Kleiner Mosenberg north-east of the main summit. The Mosenberg special airfield ( ICAO code EDEM ) with a 500 m long grass runway has been located on the plateau since 1932 . It is mainly used for gliding , but powered flight operations are also possible.
Former Mosenberg Youth Hostel
