action

The owners of the Meadow View Motel make film recordings of their guests having sex and sell the films. When the trucker Smith, a woman murderer, is up to mischief in front of their cameras, they find a profitable business model: three ignorant young people are to become the "stars" of their first snuff movie.

When Jessica, Caleb and his friend Tanner check in, they are terrorized by the hotel staff. Smith does not intend to keep the appointment with hotel manager Gordon, but he kills two of the three guests: He stabs Caleb while Jessica and Tanner can hide in the forest. They flee to the nearest house where Otis lives with his wife. The teenagers tell the couple about the killer, but Otis doesn't believe them. Smith shows up and claims Jessica and Tanner stole from him. While Otis Smith buys the lie, his wife remains in disbelief. When she tries to call the police, Smith shoots Otis and then her. Then he chases the teenagers who fled.

The perpetrators manage to catch the young people, whereupon they torture Tanner. Smith wants to kill Jessica. When an accomplice voiced moral concerns, Gordon replied that the police would be called tomorrow to accuse Smith of being the sole perpetrator of the murders. After a fight with Smith, Jessica manages to escape; she finds the dead Caleb and the dying Tanner. When a hotel employee appears, Jessica kills him and takes his gun. While Smith and Gordon look for Jessica, she hides in a lake. Just as Gordon noticed her, she shoots him and hides in Smith's trailer.

When the police arrive the next day, Jessica tells the story. The police officers are skeptical, however, as neither the bodies nor the cameras are on site. Smith, on the other hand, meets with the buyer of the videos in another hotel and discusses with him that he will start hotel operations there in a few weeks after he has installed the cameras.

Reviews

After the success of the first part, Motel: The First Cut received mixed to negative reviews; on Rotten Tomatoes he achieved 2.5 out of 5 points.

"Motel - The First Cut" is neither Shakespeare nor Goethe, but even as a simple slasher flick, the prequel can only entertain with two closed eyes. "

“Part one had stars (Kate Beckinsale, Luke Wilson) and subtle horror. The Nachklapp is cheap, formulaic, but has some exciting moments. Conclusion: assembly line horror with adrenaline rushes. "

"Unoriginal torture porn variant that plays cleverly with the set pieces of the genre, but the bottom line is only offers speculative shock effects."
