Motilal Nehru ( Hindi मोतीलाल नेहरू, Motīlāl Nehrū ; born May 6, 1861 in Agra , † February 6, 1931 in Lucknow ) was an Indian lawyer and a leading politician of the Indian National Congress . He first worked as an attorney in the Kanpur District Courts . After three years of service, Motilal Nehru moved to Allahabad to serve on the Allahabad High Court .

Life

Nehru was a co-founder of the Swaraj party in 1922 . He was a member of the Nehru Gandhi family and the father of Jawaharlal Nehru .

He was also a Freemason and a member of the Harmony Lodge in Kanpur .
