The Mount Jackson is a mountain in Coos County in New Hampshire . The mountain was named after Charles Thomas Jackson , a 19th century New Hampshire geologist and is part of the Presidential Range of the White Mountains . To the north of the mountain is Mount Pierce , to the southwest is Mount Webster .
The Appalachian Trail , a 3,500 km National Scenic Trail from Georgia to Maine , traverses the summit, running over the ridge of the Presidential Range from Crawford Notch to the summit of Mount Washington . Mount Jackson is west of the Dry River Wilderness .
