Moussa Kone works in the medium of drawing and installation . Hard contrasts determine his pictures in an alternation of positive and negative forms, enriched dramatically by the sparing use of color. The most striking feature is the consistently homogeneous hatching from which the dark zones are made up. The filling of the surface by persistently lining up narrow strips creates a field that combines the organic and the systematic and really shows the activity of the hand. The artist does not see writing and drawing in close connection for nothing.

In addition to the dense hatching, his faceless people are typical of Kone's drawings. Kone treats his figures like one of his geometric shapes: always faceless and thus depersonalized and anonymized, they become, as it were, an abstract design element.

Moussa Kone's activities are not limited to drawings and installations. He also deals with the production and reception conditions of art, such as the Kunstklappe art campaign or the Art Critics Award , Austria's only prize for art criticism, which was awarded annually by artists to critics from 2007 to 2011. The Art Critics Award has been continued in a new edition by the Kunsthalle Wien since 2014 .

He published several artist books in cooperation with several authors, such as Diabelli , published by Harpune Verlag 2011, which contains a text by Hermann Burger . In 2012 Nocturnes was published with lyrical texts by the writer Erwin Uhrmann.
