Movies! is an American television station, owned by Weigel Broadcasting and Fox Television Stations as of May 27, 2013 . It mainly broadcasts films as well as some children's programs.

history

In 2008 Weigel Broadcasting opened the channel This TV and in November 2013 sold its shares in Tribune Broadcasting . In January 2013, Weigel entered into a joint venture with Fox TV Stations to produce Movies! to found.

Movies! is broadcast by Fox on the subchannel of five stations and eleven Fox MyNetworkTV stations and by Weigel Broadcasting on two stations.

In contrast to This TV, which broadcasts its program in 4: 3 format, Movies! Films in the 16: 9 aspect ratio in standard or HDTV format, depending on the specifications of the main station . If the film is not available in 16: 9 format, the films will be broadcast with a letter or pillar box .

Violent and nude scenes as well as vulgar language are removed from the films. Advertisements are broadcast for 12 minutes per hour. However, no scene is removed in order to comply with a predefined time window or to be able to show additional advertising. The starting times of the films are rounded to the nearest 5 minutes. One main film is shown daily at 8 p.m.

Canada

This channel is not licensed for cable distribution in Canada. Only three subsidiaries are located near the border: WCAX-TV Burlington, Vermont, near the Montreal market, KVOS-TV Seattle, which also serves the Vancouver and Victoria markets, and WJBK Detroit, near Windsor, Ontario .
