The Mušlovský horní rybník (German Strelitzer pond , also Strelitzenteich ) is a fish pond in the district of Mikulov ( Nikolsburg ) in the Czech Republic . He is just two and a half kilometers north of Sedlec ( Voitelsbrunn ) around the Vlčí Lesík ( wolfswood ) in the conservation area Pálava .

geography

The pond is located north of the Mušlov settlement in the valley of the Mušlovský creek in the Milovická pahorkatina ( Milowice Hill ). Immediately below is the Mušlovský dolní rybník ( Kutlerteich ). The Mušlovský horní rybník is surrounded by vineyards and forests. To the north rises the Kienberg (258 m nm), in the northeast the Pulgarská stráň ( Pulgramer Leithen , 327 m nm), east of the Vysoký roh ( Hocheck , 310 m nm) and in the southeast of the Liščí vrch (298 m nm).

To the north of the pond is the Kienberg natural monument . In the east, the road from Mikulov to Lednice ( Eisgrub ) runs in serpentines over the hills.

description

The approximately oval pond, dammed up on its west side with a debris dam, has an area of 3.7 hectares and a volume of 36,000 m³. At the outlet its water depth is 3.56 m and at the foot of the dam 1.30 m; on average the pond is only 0.97 m deep.

In the pond there is a species-rich vegetation of aquatic macrophytes .

history

The pond was probably created under the lords of Liechtenstein as a fishing pond for the Nikolsburg rule. In the Nikolsburger Urbar created in 1574 by the new landlord Adam von Dietrichstein , the Strelitz pond was filled with 30 shock carp.
