The island of Muckle Roe is part of the Shetland Islands and is located in the Atlantic Ocean northwest of Scotland . It belongs to the Civil parish and the Community council area Delting .
It is connected to Mainland , the main island of the Shetland Islands, by a bridge over the Roe Sound , which is only a few meters wide . The hilly island is almost round and has a diameter of about 5 km and an area of 18 km². The highest point is 169 meters.
Most of the 130 inhabitants live scattered across the island in the individual farms of agriculture and fishing. Since the island has no archaeological sights, tourism plays practically no role.
