The Scottish island of Trondra belongs to the Civil parish Tingwall . It is about ten kilometers southwest of Lerwick and is connected to the main island of Mainland by a bridge . Another bridge and road connection is with the neighboring island of West Burra and Hamnavoe , the main town on this island. Trondra has an extension of about 5 × 1 km and a surface of almost 3 km².
Agriculture (especially cattle breeding) shapes the image of the fairly flat and treeless island. Since the bridge was built, the population has increased steadily. Many of the current 130 inhabitants work in Lerwick , the capital of the Shetland Islands . There are no archaeological excavations on the small island, but there are some places to stay overnight.
