Muhamed Ciftci
Muhamed Seyfudin Ciftci (born August 27, 1973 in Braunschweig ), also known as Abu Anas , is a Salafist imam, founder of a private German-speaking Islamic school, operator of the Islamic mosque publishing house and was chairman of the Association Invitation to Paradise e. V.
Life and study
Muhamed Ciftci is one of six children of Ahmed Ciftci, who co-founded the Turkish-Islamic Millî Görüş association in Germany in the 1960s . According to his own statements, the Turkish-born Ciftci was brought up in an Islamic manner and worked in various youth and Da'wa organizations at a young age . He left the Lessing-Gymnasium in Braunschweig after the 11th grade and then worked from 1992 to 1994 in the Bosnian war zone as a social worker for the International Humanitarian Aid Organization , which has been banned in Germany since 2010 . After this time he studied with European imams until 1998 , then from 1998 to 2006 Islamic law at the Islamic University of Medina in Saudi Arabia . As part of his studies, he wrote various Islamic scripts in Arabic. In addition, from 1999 to 2005 he was a preacher at the al-Haram mosque (Mecca) , at the Masjid an-Nabawi prophet 's mosque in Medina , in Riyadh , Taif , Dammam and al-Qasim . Since 2006, Ciftci has been an imam and preacher at a mosque in Braunschweig.
Islam School and Invitation to Paradise e. V.
In 2007 Ciftci founded a private, fee-based Salafist Islamic school in Braunschweig, where he himself works as a teacher and headmaster. This is based on the curriculum of the Islamic University in Medina . Schoolchildren are taught in German both on site and via online distance learning. The school has been controversial since it was founded and was monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony because it was accused of teaching an Islam that promotes terrorism . Ciftci contradicted this and emphasized that he and his school would clearly distance themselves from violence and terror . When registering, all students would have to sign a declaration of intent in which they undertake not to use violence.
In July 2010 it was announced that the Islamic school was planning to move from Braunschweig to Mönchengladbach . For this purpose, the Association for the Protection of the Constitution, Invitation to Paradise e. V. registered in Mönchengladbach and acquired a property that was to be converted into a mosque. The project led to violent protests and demonstrations, especially by the local citizens 'initiative "Citizens for Mönchengladbach, Citizens' Movement Eicken". In October 2010, Federal Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière said at a CDU event in Mönchengladbach that he was considering the possibility of a ban on associations.
Ciftci resigned all offices in March 2011 and declared that he was invited to Paradies e. V. will be “completely abandoned” due to its “double burden” in Braunschweig and Mönchengladbach. His successor was the previous second chairman, Sven Lau ("Abu Adam"). In August 2011 the association was dissolved.
reception
In many of Ciftci's sermons and lectures, which are published on numerous platforms on the Internet, violence and terror against Muslims and non-Muslims are expressly rejected. Ciftci also condemns honor killing and forced marriage there . Nevertheless, critics believe that Ciftci radicalizes young people in particular.
Ciftci is accused of being intolerant of people of different faith, advocating Sharia law and advocating violence against women. He criticized the specific stoning judgment against Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani because Iran did not apply Sunni but Shiite law. According to correct Sunni doctrine, legally binding evidence is hardly possible, which is why there was no stoning in the Ottoman Empire in the last 600 years . Basically, however: “Everything that is in the Koran and brought to us by the prophet is just and reasonable. There is also no alternative or better solution. Thus stoning is justified as a punishment for adultery. "
Ciftci contradicts the allegations of being a propagandaist and preacher of violence, and accuses the media for his part of spreading hatred against Islam and deliberately taking his words out of context.
Links to Terrorism
Ciftci and his Islamic school were accused in 2010 that "a 15-year-old visitor to his Islamic school in Braunschweig had transported the detonator for the terrorists of the Sauerland group in August 2007 ". Another student was arrested because he wanted to "blow himself up for the Lebanese Hezbollah ". The Frankfurt airport attacker on March 2, 2011 , Arid Uka , is said to have been in contact with "leading comrades-in-arms" of the Islamic Association Invitation to Paradise (EZP), which Ciftci was in charge of until March 31, 2011.
