Muhammad Abdul Al-Khabyyr

Muhammad Abdul Al-Khabyyr (born November 14, 1959 in Hull , Québec , Canada ) is a Canadian jazz musician ( trombonist ) and music teacher.

Life

Muhammad Abdul Al-Khabyyr's father is Sayyd Abdul Al-Khabyyr . Muhammad studied at Vanier College. From 1987 he belonged with his father to the Duke Ellington Orchestra under Mercer Ellington . He later played in the orchestras of Denny Christianson , Andrew Homzy and Vic Vogel . In 1993 he was involved in the recording of Francois Marcaurelle's album op. 1.7 . In 1994 he performed with Denny Christianson and his orchestra at the Du Maurier Downtown Jazz Festival de Montreal . In 2000 he played with Ranee Lee on the recording of their double CD Dark Divas and played on their tour. In 2003 he was a member of the band Swing Dynamique and in 2004 he recorded the album The Now beyond with the Effendi record label .

Muhammad Abdul Al-Khabyyr was a lecturer in wind instruments at Vanier College, Concordia University and the Schulich School of Music at Mc Gill University and at the Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel , CEGEP. His students include Jill Townsend (* 1962), the director of the Jill Townsend Jazz Orchestra, and Modibo Keita. He is a director of the Guilde des Musiciens et Musiciennes du Québec. He is a brother of the drummer Nasyr Abdul Al-Khabyyr .
