Mulpha-Gosen Malaysian Open 2001

The Mulpha-Gosen Malaysian Open 2001 took place from December 11th to 15th, 2001 in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2001/02 and belonged to Category 3 Star . The prize money was $ 30,000.

The defending champion was Ong Beng Hee , who was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Joseph Kneipp that year . Kneipp also reached the finals, where he met Anthony Ricketts . Ricketts won the final 15: 7 and 15: 6 after Kneipp gave up after the end of the second set due to injury.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 16 players, four of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Mohd Azlan Iskandar a spot in the main draw.
