Mumakil is a Swiss deathgrind band that was formed in Geneva in 2004. The group has released three studio albums to date and is under contract with Relapse Records . The texts mostly have socially critical content.

history

Mumakil was founded in 2004 in Geneva, Switzerland. The quartet recorded their first songs in the summer of the year, followed by their first live performance in November as the opening act for Nasum . In early 2005, the first demo was released , which was recorded in the home studio of guitarist Jérôme Pellegrini. The first tour of France followed in October . From January to March 2006, the band recorded the debut album again in Pellegrini's home studio, which was released a little later on the French independent label Overcome Records. This was followed by appearances with Suffocation and in 2007 the first tour of the UK with Necrophagist and Misery Index . In 2008 Relapse Records signed the band and released a split with Inhume and in March 2009 the second album Behold the Failure . Mumakil did the following tour together with Afgrund . At the end of 2010, bassist and founding member Jeremy Tavernier left the band and was replaced by Benjamin Droz in 2011. In 2011, Mumakil made some appearances in Cuba at the invitation of a French exile . A little later, the drummer Sébastien Schacher fell ill with carpal tunnel syndrome , but began recording the third album in 2012. These had to be interrupted again and again because of Schacher's illness. The album was finally released in June 2013 on Relapse Records. Although Schacher had played the drums on it, he was replaced by Kevin Foley from Benighted because of his hand injury , the suggestion for this came from Schacher.
