The Muna ( Russian Муна ) is a 715 km long left tributary of the Lena in Northeast Siberia ( Russia , Asia ).
course
The Muna arises in the northeast of the Central Siberian Mountains at an altitude of 332 m just north of the Arctic Circle from the short (about 20 kilometers) source rivers Orto-Muna (left) and Ulachan-Muna (right). It flows in an easterly direction along the northeastern edge of the Central Siberian Mountains, in sections through a narrow valley cut deep into the surrounding highlands. In this meandering the flow in wide arches and finally flows into 23 m height in a left arm of the Lena.
The most important tributaries are Munakan (length 201 km) and Khachtschan (221 km) from the right, Severnaya (238 km) from the left. There are almost 2500 lakes in the Muna catchment area.
In its entire course, the Muna flows through practically uninhabited territory on the territory of the autonomous Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) . There are no towns along the river.
Hydrography
The catchment area of the Muna covers around 30,100 km². Near the mouth, the river is over 300 meters wide; the flow velocity is 0.1 m / s.
The Muna freezes between the second half of October and the end of May / beginning of June. It freezes through to the bottom between December and May.
Infrastructure
The Muna is not navigable. There is no infrastructure whatsoever in the flow through area.
