Murafa ( Ukrainian and Russian Мурафа ) is a village in the northwest of the Ukrainian Oblast Kharkiv with about 2900 inhabitants (2001).
The village, founded in the middle of the 17th century, is the administrative center of the 137.678 km² district council of the same name in the east of Krasnokutsk Raion , which also includes the village of Myrne ( Мирне ) and the settlements of Wolodymyriwka , Lisne ( Лісне ), Oleniwske ( Оленівсвск ) , Pylnjanka ( Пильнянка ) and Sorokowe ( Сорокове ) belong.
The village is located on the bank of the Merchyk ( Мерчик ), a 43 km long left tributary of the Merla , 15 km east of the Krasnokutsk district center and 78 km west of the Kharkiv oblast center . Through the village runs the territorial road T-21-06 .
