Murat Kalkan (born May 20, 1986 in Bayburt ) is a German-Turkish soccer player .

Career

society

Murat Kalkan was born in the Turkish provincial town of Bayburt and moved to Germany with his family when he was a child. Here he started club soccer in the youth of TSG Backnang in 1919 . He then played for the youth of VfB Stuttgart . Here he was discovered for the Turkish youth national teams and played for the Turkish U-18s for the first time in 2003.

Through his work with the Turkish U-18s, the Turkish first division clubs became aware of him. This is how Gençlerbirliği Ankara managed to tie Kalkan as a professional player in 2004. At Gençlerbirliği he played exclusively for the reserve team in his first season.

To enable him match practice in a professional league, he was loaned to the second division club Mardinspor for the 2005/06 season . Kalkan played here regularly and gained gaming experience.

He played again on loan for the next three seasons. This time at the then second division Gençlerbirliği Oftaş . The 2006/07 season he was with his team champions of the TFF 1st Lig and rose to the Süper Lig .

For the 2009/10 season he returned to Gençlerbirliği and completed 12 league games. In the 2010/11 season he made his breakthrough under the new Thomas Doll . He was able to establish himself as a regular player.

In the summer of 2011/12 he moved within the league to the promoted Orduspor . Here he completed eleven league games in his first season.

After just one season he left Orduspor and moved to the new second division side Adana Demirspor .

He parted ways with Demirspor during the 2012/13 winter break and was hired by league rivals Torku Konyaspor . Although Kalkan had only played three competitive games with his new employer, he was the playoff winner of the TFF 1st Lig with the team and thus rose to the Süper Lig . After this success, he released his contract by mutual agreement with the club's management and moved to the second division Mersin İdman Yurdu . After Kalkan could not prevail at Mersin either, he moved to the second half of the season to third division club Çankırıspor .

For the 2014/15 season Kalkan was hired by the second division side Elazığspor . In the summer transfer period of 2017 he moved to third division Kastamonuspor in 1966 .

Murat Kalkan played twelve times for the Turkish U-18s and three times for the U-21 national youth team.
