Murat Yiğiter (born May 8, 1971 in Bingöl ) is a Turkish football goalkeeper .

Player career

Yiğiter began his professional career in 1991 with the Turkish top club Fenerbahçe Istanbul . Here he sat on the bench for one season or only played for the reserve team. After a year, Fenerbahçe left and moved to the second division Sökespor . With this club he fought his way to the regular place in goal at the beginning of the season, lost it before the winter break and then won it back in the second half of the season. In the second season for at Sökespor he then played consistently as a goalkeeper.

After his club Sökespor missed relegation in the summer of 1994, Yiğiter moved to league rivals Göztepe Izmir . Here, too, he played as a regular from the start. For the 1995 season he moved to the first division club Vanspor . After he had spent the second half of the season exclusively on the bench at this club, he was used in the second half of the games. For the next two seasons he played mostly as a goalkeeper and was only on the bench for a few games. The 1997/98 season he finished with his team as bottom of the table and thus rose to the 2nd Lig . Yiğiter remained loyal to his club in the second division. So you became champions in the second division season 1998/99 and thus achieved direct promotion to the first division . Yiğiter completed 32 of the 36 possible league games for his club. Promoted to the 1st Lig Yiğiter lost his regular place, but completed ten league games by the end of the season.

After Vanspor had again missed relegation in the first league in the summer of 2000, Yiğiter did not go into the second league this time, but moved to the first division club Çaykur Rizespor . Here he played in phases as the first goalkeeper in the first season. Due to his convincing performance, the Turkish top club Trabzonspor became aware of Yiğiter and signed him. At this club he did not succeed against the two goalkeepers Metin Aktaş and Bülent Ataman and he returned to Rizespor. While he was still mainly on the bench in the 2001/02 season, it was not until the 2002/03 season that he was consistently the goalkeeper. In the next season he lost his regular place and left Rizespor in the summer of 2004.

For the 2004/05 season he moved to Diyarbakırspor . Here he played for one and a half years and then spent the second half of the 2006/07 season at the second division Kocaelispor . He then ended his active football career.

Coaching career

After the end of his football career, he took over the interim position of head coach twice at Diyarbakırspor . Since he did not have a coaching license, he was assigned an assistant coach who was officially given as head coach.
