Murdo Davidson MacLeod (born September 24, 1958 in Glasgow ) is a former Scottish football player and coach.

Career

The defensive midfielder first played for Dumbarton FC before moving to Celtic Glasgow in 1979 . From 1987 he played in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund . The strong MacLeod quickly developed into one of Borussia's most popular players and won the DFB Cup in 1989 with Dortmund . He played for Dortmund until autumn 1990 and took part in the 1990 World Cup in Italy for the Scottish national soccer team. After his departure from Borussia Dortmund MacLeod returned to Scotland to end his active career at Hibernian Edinburgh and in Dumbarton (as a player- coach ). After a two-year stint as a coach at Partick Thistle , he joined Celtic Glasgow as an assistant coach in 1998.

Today he writes for the Daily Record and appears as a commentator on BBC football events .
