Murray W. Nabors

Murray Wayne Nabors (born October 4, 1943 in Carlisle , Pennsylvania ) is a botanist , professor and author from the United States .

Career

Nabors spent his childhood and youth in Oklahoma . He graduated from Yale University and Michigan State University . Nabors began his scientific career as a lecturer at the University of Oregon . From there he went to the University of Santa Clara . In 1972 he moved to Colorado State University for 27 years . In addition to his teaching activities, he headed the graduate program there. After that, Nabors spent four years as head of the Department of Biology at James Madison University . He then followed a call to the University of Mississippi at Oxford as a professor and took over the management of the Department of Biology. He is currently Professor and Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Missouri Western State University .

Research priorities

Nabor is particularly interested in the field of biotechnology . He is mainly concerned with how the tolerance of crops, for example with regard to salt yield , can be improved with the help of biotechnological processes . To this end, he founded a laboratory, where mainly plants with increased salt tolerance are grown from tissue cultures. He is currently researching to isolate genes that help cell cultures to develop into complete plants.

Act

Nabors has been teaching botany for more than 30 years. He has published around 50 peer-reviewed articles and several textbooks. Regardless of his area of ​​expertise, he edited a few short stories and a book of Christmas stories.

Nabors lives with his family on a small farm near Saint Joseph , where he keeps several animals such as dairy goats, horses and cats.
