Location

The museum is located in a villa in the Prussian Quarter in the Radeberger Vorstadt district of Dresden . The exhibition site is also known as the "Kunstkeller Dresden".

history

The founding of the museum in 2019 was preceded by 23 years of gallery operation at the same location. In 1996 the metal designer and photo artist Volkmar Fritzsche, a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists ( BBK ), opened the gallery .

In almost 100 group and solo exhibitions, artists presented erotic painting , graphics , sculpture , photography and even caricature parts of their work . In 2006 the gallery focused on contemporary nude photography. The photographers Günter Rössler , Klaus Ender , Werner Lieberknecht and the photographer Ulrich Lindner exhibited here several times.

exhibition

Conceptually, the museum specializes in the diversity of modern nude photo art as an independent genre of photography. On view are contemporary photographic works in which the depiction of the shell-less body is an aesthetic concern and which are often not based on the current ideals of beauty .

The museum aktfotoARTdresden presents six current works by ten photographers and enables a comparison of artistic positions and manuscripts. The fluid exchange of works offers the visitor new perspectives again and again .

Pedagogical orientation: The exhibition deliberately wants to be an antithesis to sexist image marketing. It is therefore also aimed at young people who should be taught that, in addition to pornographic body images, there is also an art in photography that depicts people of all ages and situations.
