The Myŏraksan ( 멸 악산 ) is a mountain in the North Korean province of North Hwanghae Province on the border between the counties Rinsan and P'yŏngsan . It has a height of 816  m , making it the highest mountain in the Myorak Mountains. In 1976, the North Korean government established a nature reserve of 126 km² in this area. On the south side there are persimmon trees , on the north side there are mixed forests of u. a. Oak , red pine , Japanese maple . At the foot of the mountain there are forests of Korean pine , Japanese chestnut trees and black locust . Bush clover , Korean rhododendron , oak and Japanese elm grow around the mountain top . The Myoraksans area is one of the last habitats of the Tristram Woodpecker .

The Chuamch' Bern Stream, a tributary of the Ryesŏng-gang , flows at the southern foot of the mountain , and the np'ach'ŏn, a tributary of the Chaeryŏng-gang, flows at the northern foot of the mountain .
