The Northern Höllhorn is a 2,145 m high mountain in the Allgäu Alps . It lies north of the southern Höllhorn and is separated from the Kleinen Wilden to the north by a flat saddle. Together with the southern Höllhorn , the two rock peaks are often called Höllhorns . From certain points of view, such as the Älpelesattel , the two peaks look very similar to two curved horns.
There is no marked path to the Northern Höllhorn. The easiest ascent comes from the Wildenscharte and crosses below the east face of the Kleiner Wilden to the north and then leads over the north side to the summit. This path also requires mountain experience and a sense of direction.
The south face, which towers directly at the saddle between the southern and northern Höllhorn, is a nice climbing tour despite its shortness of 1½ pitches and is popular after an ascent of the southern ridge of the southern Höllhorn .
