N. Kiran Kumar Reddy ( Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy , Telugu : నల్లారి కిరణ్ కుమార్ రెడ్డి Nallāri Kīraṇ Kumār Reḍḍi ; born September 13, 1960 in Hyderabad ) is an Indian politician. From November 2010 to February 2014 he was Chief Minister (Head of Government) of the state of Andhra Pradesh for the Congress Party .

Life

N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was born on September 13, 1960 in Hyderabad . He is one of the socially and politically influential in Andhra Pradesh caste of Reddy on. Kiran Kumar Reddy is the son of N. Amarnath Reddy , who was also politically active in the Congress Party and from 1978 to 1982 Minister in the Andhra Pradesh government. The family comes from the Chittoor district in the Rayalaseema region in the south of Andhra Pradesh, but Kiran Kumar Reddy grew up in the capital, Hyderabad. He completed his education with a bachelor's degree in economics from Nizam Collegeand a Bachelor of Laws from Osmania University in Hyderabad.

N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's political career began in 1989 when he was elected to the Andhra Pradesh State Parliament as a candidate for the Congress Party. He represented the Vayalpadu constituency in his family's home region. In the next election in 1994 he lost his constituency, but was able to regain it in 1999 and defend it in 2004. Under Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy , he served as Chief Whip from 2004 to 2009 . In the 2009 election, Kiran Kumar Reddy competed successfully in the Pileru constituency , to which his old constituency Vayalpadu had been incorporated as part of the reorganization of the constituencies. After the election he took over the office of speaker of parliament . After Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy was killed in a helicopter crash on September 2, 2009, K. Rosaiah took over the office, but resigned a little over a year later for health reasons. As a result, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was appointed as his successor and sworn in as Chief Minister on November 25, 2010.

During N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's tenure, the protracted political controversy over the creation of the state of Telangana from the northwest region of Andhra Pradesh fell. Like most politicians from Rest of Andhra Pradesh, Kiran Kumar Reddy opposed the split in the state. He was thus in conflict with the all-India leadership of the Congress, which promoted the establishment of Telangana. After the Lok Sabha , the lower house of the Indian parliament, had approved the creation of Telangana, Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned his party membership and all offices in protest on February 19, 2014. On March 1, 2014, Andhra Pradesh was placed under President's rule . After leaving the Congress Party, Kiran Kumar Reddy founded his own party, the Jai Samaikhyandra Party .
