N 4 , N 4 -Dimethylcytidine (m 4 2 C) is a rare nucleoside . It consists of β- D- ribofuranose (sugar) and N 4 , N 4 -dimethylcytosine . It is a derivative of cytidine , which isdoubly methylated at the amino group .
Further dimethylated nucleosides are N 2 , N 2 -dimethylguanosine and N 6 , N 6 -dimethyladenosine .
