Frederick William Freking

Frederick William Freking (also Friedrich Wilhelm Freking , born August 11, 1913 in Lake Huron , Minnesota , USA ; † November 28, 1998 ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of La Crosse .

Life

Frederick William Freking received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Winona on July 31, 1938 .

On October 10, 1957, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Salina . The Cardinal Bishop of Albano , Giuseppe Pizzardo , donated him episcopal ordination on November 30th of the same year in Rome ; Co-consecrators were the Curia Bishops Luigi Traglia and Martin John O'Connor . The inauguration in the Diocese of Salina followed on January 7 of the following year.

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of La Crosse on December 30, 1964 . He was inducted into office on February 24 of the following year.

Freking participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On May 10, 1983, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation.
