The Diocese of Winona-Rochester ( Latin : Dioecesis Winonensis-Roffensis , Eng. Diocese of Winona-Rochester ) is a Roman Catholic diocese located in Minnesota in the United States , with its seat in Winona .

history

Pope Leo XIII. founded it on November 26, 1889 from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul , to which it was subordinated as a suffragan diocese. On January 23, 2018, the previous diocese of Winona was renamed Winona-Rochester.

The diocese of Winona includes Winona, Wabasha, Olmsted, Dodge, Steele, Waseca, Blue Earth, Watonwan, Cottonwood, Murray, Pipestone, Rock, Nobles, Jackson, Faribault, Martin, Freeborn, Mower, Fillmore and Houston counties of the state of Minnesota.
