Bernard Joseph Harrington
Bernard Joseph Harrington (born September 6, 1933 in Detroit ) is former bishop of Winona .
Life
Bernard Joseph Harrington was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on June 6, 1959 .
Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Detroit and titular bishop of Uzalis on November 23, 1993 . The Archbishop of Detroit , Adam Joseph Maida , ordained him episcopal on January 6 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Dale Joseph Melczek , Apostolic Administrator of Gary , and Walter Joseph Schoenherr , Auxiliary Bishop in Detroit.
He was appointed Bishop of Winona on November 4, 1998, and was instituted on January 6 of the next year. On May 7, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
