John Joseph Paul (born August 17, 1918 in La Crosse , Wisconsin , USA , † March 5, 2006 ) was Bishop of La Crosse .

Life

John Joseph Paul received on 24 January 1943 Bishop William Richard Griffin , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on May 17, 1977 . to titular bishop of Lambaesis and auxiliary bishop in La Crosse . The Bishop of La Crosse, Frederick William Freking , ordained him episcopal on August 4th of that year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Rockford , Arthur Joseph O'Neill , and Auxiliary Bishop Mark Francis Schmitt of Green Bay .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of La Crosse on October 14, 1983. He was inducted into office on December 5 of the same year.

On December 10, 1994, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
