Arthur Joseph O'Neill

Arthur Joseph O'Neill (born December 14, 1917 in East Dubuque , † April 27, 2013 in Rockford ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Rockford .

Life

Arthur O'Neill was ordained a priest on March 27, 1943 .

He was on August 19, 1968 by Pope Paul VI. appointed Bishop of Rockford . The Apostolic Delegate to the United States of America , Archbishop Luigi Raimondi , ordained him episcopal on October 11 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Leo Binz , Archbishop of Saint Paul , and James Joseph Byrne , Archbishop of Dubuque .

On April 19, 1994, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. In 2013, O'Neill died at the age of 95 as one of the oldest Catholic bishops in the world.
