NDW 2005 ( Neue Deutsche Welle 2005 ) is a song by the Berlin rapper Fler . The song is the first single from his debut album Neue Deutsche Welle and was released on May 2, 2005.
content
Thematically, NDW 2005 primarily refers to Fler's German ancestry, as he is one of the few German rappers who does not have a migration background . He compares his hip-hop to folk music , as the media boycott it, but the people love him. As a result, he demands a German quota for the radio, since only “American rap” would be played there, which does not have to be censored because nobody understands the lyrics. Fler's music, on the other hand, would be publicly censored and defused. He describes his songs as the national anthem with drums and bass and announces that 2005 will be the dawn of a new era for German music.
production
The beat of the song was produced by producers Paul NZA and Kilian. The melody is based on the instrumental of the song Rock Me Amadeus by Falco .
Music video
The video shot for NDW 2005 was directed by Specter , one of the co-founders of Aggro Berlin . In addition to Fler, Sido , B-Tight , Tony D , G-Hot , Deso Dogg , Shizoe and Patrice can also be seen.
Fler drives through Berlin in a black Mercedes-Benz CLS until he stops at two prostitutes . In some scenes he wears a t-shirt that shows the face of the former Austrian artist Falco . Later you see Fler and his people in a hall where a kickboxing match reminiscent of scenes from the movie Fight Club is taking place. At the beginning and end of the video, Fler holds an eagle on his arm.
controversy
Due to individual lines of text, such as B. "That's black, red and gold - hard and proud, you can't tell by looking at it, but believe me, my mum is German," Fler received criticism from many quarters. The artist was accused of flirting with nationalist and neo-Nazi ideas.
Fler himself was dismayed by the allegations and explained in interviews and at concerts that he was by no means a neo-Nazi, that he hated such people and would continue to have nothing to do with them, and that he himself didn't even know why he was being treated like this reproach.
