The NEW Nordeifel workshops profit company are a company in Euskirchen for people with disabilities , because of the nature and severity of their disability on the general labor market can not or will not be integrated.

In 1975 the first workshop for disabled people (WfbM) was opened in Dürscheven .

There are now four recognized workshops, two of them in Ülpenich and Zingsheim for mentally and multiply disabled people and two more in Kuchenheim and Kall for mentally disabled people. These provide a job for 1,300 employees with and without disabilities and are one of the largest employers in the Euskirchen district .

In 1975 the first workshop opened in a former school building in Dürscheven. 30 mentally or multiply disabled people from the Euskirchen district began to work in a workshop for disabled people.

In 1978 the Nordeifelwerkstätten set up a branch in the forum of the parish of St. Matthias in Euskirchen due to the steadily growing number of employees . Another followed a year later in Enzen .

In 1980 the construction of a new workshop in Ülpenich for 150 sheltered workplaces was started, which was occupied at the end of 1981. The buildings previously used were abandoned by the North Eifel workshops. The workshop was expanded to 330 workshop spaces in two construction phases in 1990 and 1999.

In 1984 NEW acquired an empty industrial building in Zingsheim, which was inaugurated after a two-year renovation period with 80 workshop spaces available. An expansion of 80 workshop spaces took place in 1992. In the carpenter's shop, the first sauna cabins were manufactured as an in-house product of the Nordeifelwerkstätten, which are initially sold to hardware stores and later through specialist dealers to this day. In addition, among other things, pallets and transport boxes are produced.

In 1987 a workshop for people with mental illnesses and disabilities opened in the former Belgian casino in Euskirchen, initially with 60 workshop spaces. Since the need for jobs for the mentally handicapped was so great, an expansion was necessary in 1991, so that the city of Euskirchen bought a plot of land in Kuchenheim. After 18 months of construction, the workshop with 85 workshop spaces was inaugurated. By 2015, the workshop had been increased to 313 workshop spaces by building additional halls and renting neighboring buildings. Here u. a. Transport containers checked and cleaned, packaging and assembly, and a printing center operated.

In 1995 an empty company in the commercial area of ​​Kall was rented so that another workshop with 45 workshop spaces for mentally handicapped people could be opened. This workshop was expanded to 109 workshop spaces through additions in 2000 and the construction of a workshop in 2014/15. Here, among other things, metal processing, garden and plant maintenance and a candy factory are operated.

In 2002, the Nordeifelwerkstätten set up a new wood production workshop in Zingsheim with 2,000 m² of work and storage space. This was expanded in 2009 by a new workshop. This means that 250 workshop spaces were available at the location, which were increased to a total of 303 workshop spaces in 2015.

In 2003 NEW founded the Euskirchener Integrationsförderungsgesellschaft non-profit GmbH, whose aim is to promote the social and societal integration of disabled people, which supports and supplements the work of the Nordeifelwerkstätten. Sports and music activities as well as individual leisure activities are offered here.

2004 certified DQS the quality management system of the North Eifel workshops according to DIN EN ISO 9001: 2000 . In the subsequent certifications, occupational safety according to MAAS-BGW and later the vocational training area according to AZAV were included.

In 2008 NEW took over the management of the cafeteria of the Thomas Esser Vocational College in Euskirchen. In 2013 and 2015, the canteens of the Euskirchen tax office and the Euskirchen district savings bank followed .

In 2009, the Nordeifelwerkstätten founded the integration company EuLog Service gGmbH in Kuchenheim with the core business of warehouse and logistics services. In 2013, craft services were offered as additional fields of activity and a CAP grocery store was set up in Kuchenheim in 2014. Almost 50 people now work for this company.

In 2011, the central administration and the staff units moved from Ülpenich to Kuchenheim in a renovated administration building in the EuLog hall.

In the same year a major fire destroyed approx. 3000 m² of production and storage space with sanitary and social rooms at the location in Ülpenich. The reconstruction took two years. From autumn 2013 it was possible to work again in the workshop. In 2015, 369 workshop spaces were available. Here u. a. Assembly work, packaging and assembly , laundry care, catering and sauna construction are offered.

The NEW-JOB specialist service began in 2012, whose task is to accompany and look after people with disabilities from the Nordeifel workshops in external workplaces in companies on the general labor market. In 2018, 35 individual jobs and numerous internships were supervised by 4 JOB coaches.

In 2014, the Nordeifelwerkstätten opened the NimmEssMit local supply store in the center of Bad Münstereifel .

In the same year, the former EDEKA store in Kuchenheim was reopened as a CAP grocery store by the NEW subsidiary EuLog.

2015 Completion of the new workshop in Kall.

2016 Expansion of the CAP grocery store to a total of 770 square meters. Cooperation with the city of Euskirchen in relation to supplying the city's day-care centers.

2017 Opening of the "Ironing Professional" in the HIT-Markt shopping center in Euskirchen, Georgstrasse with 12 workplaces.

2018 Completion of the "curative education work area" for 70 employees in Zingsheim after the renovation and expansion of a neighboring building acquired in the previous year.

The Nordeifelwerkstätten offer people with learning disabilities, an intellectual disability or multiple severe disabilities structures and fields of activity in which their skills can be promoted and further developed. For example, those with cognitive handicaps develop their practical and social skills more effectively. The NEW staff supports these people in meeting the demands of the general labor market.

The Nordeifelwerkstätten offer people with mental impairments and / or disabilities structures and fields of activity in which they can regain confidence in their performance and stabilize themselves.
