Publikative.org was a blog run by the Amadeu Antonio Foundation . It came out of the NPD blog (subtitle: "A documentation about the NPD and misanthropic attitudes"), a watch blog that has been created on a voluntary basis by journalist Patrick Gensing since 2005 and is critical of the activities of the NPD and the right-wing extremist scene with the aim "Research, documentation, clarification" reported.

In October 2011 the blog was renamed Publikative.org . The editorial team included Patrick Gensing , Andrej Reisin and Felix M. Steiner . On January 23, 2016, Gensing and Steiner announced that they would close the project due to a lack of infrastructure and personal and time problems with the volunteer authors. They also announced that the content “won't be on the net forever”.

Content

Gensing often considered the media coverage of the NPD to be too "selective and superficial" and therefore tried to view current incidents and activities of the party "not in isolation, but in connection with other events." Otherwise, there was a risk that the intentions of the NPD would unclear and reports about them would remain in the air or fizzle out "on the moral level". The author obtained information through research on the Internet and discussions with colleagues, but Gensing also regularly resorted to direct discussions with NPD politicians. The prerequisite for these contacts was that the NPD blog generally pursued “sober and factual reporting”. According to the Hitler blog , which is based at the taz , the NPD blog “just as persistently, detailed and factual as the events of the nationalist party” and dealt “with it beyond left-wing or bourgeois platitudes”. In addition to a register of people and articles categorized by federal state, the NPD blog also contained a detailed list with further links on the subject of the NPD and right-wing extremism.

The renaming to publikative.org was justified by the fact that the range of topics had already been expanded; For a long time now, “it's not just about the NPD. Conspiracy theories , obsessive Israel hatred , homophobia , Sarrazin and Breivik have only limited direct links to the NPD or the reporting on this party, but all of these topics were dealt with here. In addition, the previous name has led to confusion, not least among advertising partners. In terms of content, the extreme right remains a focus, but according to Patrick Gensing it should be supplemented by topics of “ group-related misanthropy ”, since “ideologies that propagate inequality of people or public actors who spread stereotypes ” are the prerequisites “for success for parties like the NPD ”. The NPD is "a symptom of social problems, not their cause."

history

The blog was online under the name NPD-Blog since the end of 2005 and was nominated in May 2007 for the Grimme Online Award in the Information category. The explanatory memorandum emphasized that it went beyond reporting in traditional media and made a decisive contribution to the discussion of right-wing extremist strategies and actors.

In January 2007 the blog was hacked . Following the name of the blog, the attacker mistakenly assumed that it was a web presence of the NPD itself.

From October 9 to 10, 2010, the Facebook page for the blog was switched off without comment and reactivated the following Monday, although the blog operator remained without administrator rights and more than 1000 contacts were lost. Facebook was then again exposed to criticism for suppressing critical content. On the other hand, sides of the NPD would not be deleted because they were a legal party in Germany.
