The ice age by glaciers shaped hanging valley monk boiler ( Polish Nadspady even Mnichnikowy Kocioł ) is a Karkessel, the south of the Fish Lake Valley , which in turn is a tributary of the valley Bialkatals is in the Polish Tatra Mountains in the Malopolska province is located. It lies below the top of the Monk ( Mnich ) and the Turnia Zwornikowa about 150 meters above the mountain lake Meerauge .

geography

The valley basin has a diameter of several hundred meters and is surrounded by mountains almost 2100 meters high, especially the Mnich massif . Above the basin is the Mönchtal ( Dolina za Mnichem ), where the mountain stream Mönchbach ( Mnichowy Potok ) has its sources. He seeps back into the ground and flows underground in the valley, where he comes back to days to a few hundred meters in the river Waterfall Double Waterfall ( Dwoista Siklawa ) into the mountain lake Meerauge overthrow.

etymology

The name is derived from the waterfalls below the boiler. It can be translated as Over the (water) falls . The alternative name Mnichnikowy Kocioł is derived from the mountain Mnich and can be translated as monk's cauldron .

Flora and fauna

The valley lies above the tree line. The valley is a retreat for chamois, marmots and golden eagles.

There is a high mountain climate in the valley.

tourism

A yellow-marked hiking trail, called Ceprostrada , runs in the basin from the Meerauge mountain lake to the Kupfersattel ( Szpiglasowa Przełęcz ) mountain pass .
