Anton Edwin Stadelmann (born December 24, 1932 in Alberschwende ; † August 19, 1991 in Vienna ) was an Austrian Salvatorian and military chaplain .

Life

Anton Edwin Stadelmann entered the order of the Salvatorians as a novice after graduating from high school and was ordained a priest on June 26, 1960. He completed the pastoral year in Passau and Hamberg . After that, Father Edwin moved to Vienna in the Salvatorian Parish, where he worked as a pastor and religious teacher. From 1965, Father Edwin worked as an area pastor for the Catholic Workers' Youth (KAJ) and as a chaplain in Vienna- Kaisermühlen . In 1975, Father Edwin reported for the first time as a military pastor for the Austrian UN troop contingent ( UNDOF AUSBATT ) on the Golan Heights in Syria . From 1975 to 1991, Father Edwin Stadelmann worked ten times on the Golan (UNDOF / AUSBATT) and twice in Cyprus ( UNFICYP AUSCON) as a military chaplain to the Austrian UN contingents (with short interruptions) . With his combination of religious and general care, Father Edwin set new trends in military pastoral care.

Awards

On the 25th anniversary of Stadelmann's death, the "UNDOF-UNFICYP - Father Edwin Stadelmann SDS" commemorative medal was issued by the Association of Austrian Peacekeepers - Association of Austrian Peacekeepers .
