Nagasaki Spirit was the name of the tanker shipping company Teekay Shipping Group , which on 19th September 1992 at 23:20 in the Strait of Malacca to the container ship Ocean Blessing collided. The Nagasaki Spirit was on its way from the Persian Gulf to Brunei with a cargo of around 40,000 tons of crude oil . The container ship was driverless after a pirate attack. 51 sailors were killed in the accident and 12,000 tons of oil ended up in the sea. The tanker was repaired and later converted into a " Floating Production Storage and Offloading Unit ".
