The Namika La is a mountain pass on the National Highway 1D in Ladakh in the Himalayas .
The Namika La is also called "Pillar of Heaven".
While the road descends from here to the west to the town of Kargil , it first leads east into the Shakar Chiktan Valley , which leads north to the Indus , before reaching the town of Lamayuru via the Fotu La mountain pass .
