Nancy Lee Grahn
Nancy Lee Grahn (born April 28, 1955 in Skokie , Illinois ) is an American actress .
Life
Grahn, the daughter of two choreographers , studied at the University of Illinois . At the age of twelve she starred in a production of Guys and Dolls at the Goodman Theater in Chicago . While she was in high school, she worked on professional productions in Chicago. In 1976 she graduated from school and moved to New York City , where she attended the Neighborhood Playhouse, an acting school. Just a few months after graduating, she was offered a role in the soap Love, Lies, Passion . After her contract expired, Nancy Lee Grahn moved to Los Angeles. There she took on the role of Julia Wainwright in the California Clan in 1985 , for which she won an Emmy in 1989 and was nominated three times for the Soap Opera Digest Award in 1991 and 1993 . She played this role until the series ended in 1993.
She had guest roles in the following series, among others: Knight Rider , Murder is Her Hobby , Quincy , Simon & Simon , Magnum and Our Little Farm . Since 1997 she has played the role of Alexis Davis in the television series General Hospital . For this role she was nominated for the Daytime Emmy in 2000, 2003, 2004 and 2005 ; Another nomination for this award in 2006 brought her participation in the SOAPnet Reveals ABC Soap Secrets special . In 2000, 2001 and 2003 she received the Soap Opera Digest Award , for which she was nominated again in 2005 together with Rick Hearst .
Nancy Lee Grahn works in her spare time as a spokesperson for a group that mentors victims of violent crime. She also takes care of AIDS patients in the ECO organization that she founded. For three years she volunteered at the San Fernando Family Guidance Clinic, which helps children in need, and volunteered as a therapist in a clinic for the disabled. She also writes scripts and short stories.
Nancy Lee Grahn has had a daughter since March 1998, Kate, whom she named after her favorite actress Katharine Hepburn . However, she does not reveal her father's name and does not live with him.
