Nancy Isenberg

Nancy Gale Isenberg (born around 1958 ) is an American historian .

Life

Isenberg studied history at Rutgers University , where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1980 , and at the University of Wisconsin , where she earned a Master of Arts in 1983 and received her PhD in American history in 1990. Isenberg was an Assistant Professor at the University of Northern Iowa and holds the T. Harry Williams Professorship at Louisiana State University . She wrote a biography about the American founding father Aaron Burr , in which she paints a counter-image to the portrayal of Burr as a dubious villain, which has prevailed for almost 200 years, and also wants to dispel the worship of saints by other founding fathers, especially Burr's rivals Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson . Her study on the history of the white American lower class, White Trash , was quoted in reports on the 2016 American presidential election campaign .
