The Star daffodil ( Narcissus radiiflorus , Syn. : Narcissus poeticus . Subsp radiiflorus ), also Sternblütige Narcissus , White Mountain Narcissus or narrow-daffodil called, is a plant of the genus of daffodils in the family of Amaryllis (Amaryllidaceae).

The star daffodil is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 20 to 50 centimeters. This geophyte forms large onions as persistence organs. The stem is erect, hollow, leafless, bilateral and compressed. The basal leaves are gray-green, linear, flat, fleshy and 5 to 8 millimeters wide.
On the stem there is usually only one flower, horizontally or nodding above the individual thin-skinned, up to 5 centimeters long bract . The fragrant flower is threefold. The six bracts of the same shape and color are fused together like a salver. The greenish flower tube is up to 3 centimeters long. The star-shaped, free sections of the bracts are narrowed at the bottom, twice as long as they are wide, and hardly overlap. The maximum 5 mm high secondary crown is short, cylindrical, yellow and has a diameter of 8 to 12 millimeters, with a red, wavy edge. The six stamens arise at the same height in the flower tube and tower above them. The flowering period extends from April to June.
A triple capsule fruit is formed that contains many seeds.
Occurrence
The star daffodil is found in the Alps, the Black Forest, Italy and the Western Balkans on freshly moist, nutrient-rich mountain meadows and in light deciduous forests. It thrives from montane to submontane, at altitudes of 300 to about 1600 meters.
