Nathan Underwood Blecharczyk (* 1984 in West Roxbury , Boston , Massachusetts ) is an American entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CTO of Airbnb .

Career

At the age of 12 he started writing his first programs which he put on the Internet. When he was 14, he received a $ 1,000 offer to write a program. In 2001 he graduated from the Boston Latin Academy high school. He attended the elite Harvard University , where he received a bachelor's degree in computer science in 2005 . From 2005 he worked as an engineer at OPNET Technologies and in 2007 as chief developer at Batiq. He also worked as a program manager at Microsoft .

Role at Airbnb

When the two designers Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia wanted to found Airbnb in 2008, they needed a partner who could program. Gebbia remembered his former roommate Blecharczyk, who was a programmer, and so he became the engineer (CTO) responsible for the new company's website.
