Nathan Cicoria (born September 2, 1978 ) is a former Canadian skeleton athlete and coach.
Nathan Cicoria studied environmental science at the University of Calgary . In 1999 he started the sport of skeleton. He was trained by Teresa Schlachter . He had been a member of the national team of Canada since 2001. Cicoria competed in his first international races as early as 2000 as part of the America's Cup in Calgary , where in his first race he was second only to the eventual Olympic champion Duff Gibson . A year later, the Canadians debuted in Koenigssee in the World Cup and was 27th in his first race in 2002 he managed with fourth place his best result at the Canadian Championships . His greatest success at an international championship achieved Cicoria at the North American Skeleton Championship in Park City in 2003 , where he won the bronze medal behind Zach Lund and Chad Omweg . In the Skeleton America's Cup 2002/03 he was second behind Brian McDonald and Mike Cline . After a long break he was able to start again in the World Cup in 2003 . With eleventh place in Altenberg , the Canadian achieved his best World Cup result. The last international season was the World Cup 2004/05 , in the overall World Cup Cicoria was 31st. After the season he became a coach. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , he was the head coach of the Canadian skeleton drivers. Then he became the national coach of Canada. Since March 2011 he has succeeded Matt Hindle as High Performance Director in charge of the Canadian bobsleigh riders.
